Why are we Doin' It For Diane:
Diane Murray lived in Stoughton, married to David Fisher, a retired principal of the South Elementary School.   David and Diane had known each other for many years and decided to wed in June of 2005.   Diane was quite an active person, as a member of Gold's Gym she would often be seen working out, sometimes 7 days a week.   Diane also worked in Boston, at a legal firm, traveling to her job 5 days a week, by train.   One sunny morning, August of 2005, Diane had arrived at the office and, while sitting at her desk, had a massive heart attack, that took her life instantly!

Many of us Stoughtonians knew Diane as being a wonderful, caring person.   She and David supported many of the local charities,.their favorite being Food Pantries.   A few months after Diane's passing, David, along with Mark Snyder, Denis Donaghue, Deni Goldman and Terry Schneider, decided to honor Diane and her favorite charity by organizing the first "Doin' It For Diane" fundraiser, which was held at the Stoughton VFW 1645 in January, 2006.

In January, 2008, the Board of Directors of the Stoughton Chamber of Commerce agreed to offer the Chamber's support for the Food Pantries by sponsoring a newly formed committee called, "The Doin' It For Diane" Committee, and to make the food pantries our number one charity.

You do not need to be a Stoughton Chamber Member to get involved with the Doin' It For Diane Committee.   If you would be interested in joining our diverse committee, just send us an e-mail and we'll add your name to our list for future meetings.

"The Distance from Provider to
Impoverished is Quite Short!"

Mission Statement:
  • The Doin' It For Diane Committee is nothing more, nor less, than a group of people who are dedicated to aiding our fellow neighbors in their time of need without discrimination or judgment.   Our goal is to offer support, encourage hope and return dignity to anyone who has fallen on hard times so that they will have an opportunity to improve their own conditions.

  • By supplying nutritional needs, we may foster positive self-image in the young, nurture the infirm, and aged, and re-affirm goals in our working poor.
